UP Getting Up is the Key to Life
Down but Not Out - Slowed but Not Stopped - Bent but Not Broken

Up is the creation of the author in which he shares his personal paradigm for mental, emotional, and spiritual recovery and facing the challenges of life as quadriplegic. It is the author's hope to inspire those with similar injuries and give hope to their medical caregivers, family, and loved ones. Interior photographs are from the author.Brian’s neck was broken while playing football with his friends on the sunny, chilly day after Christmas, 1979, at the age of seventeen. As he found the courage and strength to recover, graduate from high school, earn his college degree, and earn his Juris Doctor degree as a quadriplegic, he also found his purpose: to achieve more than expected, and to aspire to the best he can be. Now the father of three and a husband of over 24 years, Brian has developed his strategy of success, CIA: Commitment, Integrity, and Attitude. With his engaging style and practical wisdom, Brian will leave you invigorated to face your own struggles with hope, faith, and purpose!

Go Ask Your Dad. It's features dads of all kinds, role models, heroes, men who have faced great loss, and men who have made even greater mistakes. Each tells a touching story that needs to be heard.

Go Ask Your Dad challenges fathers from different faiths, cultures, and generations to come together and answer tough questions dads, children, and families face today.

Fathers must learn from the past, be prepared now and in the future to discuss everything from sexual education and identity to what kind of career path a youth could choose. Fathers need to have answers on how to handle negative things such as cyber-bullying and ISIS, but also must encourage good choices for health, happiness and a brighter tomorrow.

The authors of Go Ask Your Dad don't claim to be perfect dads; they do promise, in this book, you will find valuable lessons from their mistakes and successes

Brian is a Certified Life Coach

Mastermind groups are relatively new to most people.
A mastermind group is designed to help you navigate through challenges using the collective intelligence of others.

How does a mastermind work? A group of smart people meet weekly, monthly, daily even if it makes sense, to tackle challenges and problems together. They lean on each other, give advice, share connections and do business with each other when appropriate. It’s very much peer-to-peer mentoring and if you are lucky enough to get invited to one, you will most likely see a marked change in yourself and your business.

Here are 7 reasons why a Mastermind might be right for you:

  1. You’ll be part of an exclusive community. Joining a mastermind typically involves you being invited by the members or going through an application process. The other members need you just as much as you need them, so quality of experience and knowledge is crucial to all involved.

  2. Advisement. Once you are involved in a mastermind, that feeling of “being alone” while running your business is gone. The other members of the group turn into business advisors of sorts and vice versa.

  3. Collaboration is the name of the game. You may find someone in the group that is a perfect fit to work on a project with you. Or, you may be the perfect person to help another member as well. The group works together collaboratively, to achieve more together.

  4. Extend your network. Joining a mastermind expands your network exponentially and rapidly. If you are in business, you know how important your network is. By joining a mastermind, you instantly add to your network and typically gain the networks of those in the group with you.

  5. New learning. Everyone in the mastermind is unique in skill, experience and connections. By interacting and sharing your challenges, it’s almost certain that someone in your mastermind will have a solution for you and you may also be able to offer a solution, connection or tactic to help another in the group.

  6. Cross-promotion. When you join a mastermind, you will most likely find ways to help each other by utilizing cross promotion. Finding ways to help each other through promoting to your respective networks.

  7. Think bigger. Being in a mastermind will truly give you a Master Mind! You can’t help but think bigger and stretch beyond your boundaries when surrounded by amazing people doing amazing things.
Masterminds are incredible and can do wonders for your business as well as for you, personally. Growing in a group is not only more effective, it’s quite a bit more fun! Contact Brian Swift bswift62@comcast.net

It’s Your Time

There comes a time in your life when you finally get it ... When, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out "ENOUGH! Enough fighting and crying or struggling to hold on." Then, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside and you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes. This is your awakening. Your Quickening, the receiving of all the power and knowledge another immortal has obtained throughout his/her life. It is like the receiving of a sacrament.

It is your time!! You realize it’s time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change, or for happiness, safety and security to magically appears over the next horizon. You realize that in the real world there aren’t always fairy tale endings, and that any guarantee of “happily ever after” must begin with you. Not everyone gets a trophy and there are winners and losers and that all right as long as you’re not a quitter.

You learn that your mother and father were more right than wrong. You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect and that not everyone will always love or faith and appreciate or approve of who or what you are, and that’s okay. They are entitled to their own views and opinions. You learn that the best things in live are free. You learn smooth roads never make good drivers. Smooth sea never makes good sailors. Clear skies never make good pilots. Problem free life never makes a strong person.

You learn about real Friendship isn’t how you forget, but how you forgive.
Not how you listen, but how you understand.

Not how you see, but how you feel.
Not how you let go, but how you hold on!
