"All music created is perfect, if only in the eyes of the person who wrote it. When people continue to do what they love, and continue to push their own personal limits, they become better people. The true beauty comes when musicians are able to touch and reach people through their craft. What the world needs right now is goodness and love. I can't think of a better way to distribute that than through a medium that has no restrictions and knows no race, creed, or nationality. Music is it's own entity, and it's one of the purest forms of truth and love that we can spread."- William Lewis Massey
"I had NEVER been a "singer" until I moved to Micronesia when it was done mostly in a backup role. That being said, I was ALWAYS learning/practicing/singing different songs by myself but never made a push to break out of my shell so to speak. Since the guitar playing began to develop, and I was exposed to so many different genres (both playing and listening) I naturally gravitated toward singing. Over the last 4+ performing as a solo act I obviously have no choice but to sing, but the covers I do, and the songs I write fit into my natural range of voice. I feel like that is one of the strongest assets I have, is that when I sing, it's my natural voice. Ironically, because I started singing by harmonizing (backup vocals) I really enjoy the rare opportunities I get to harmonize with people. It comes very naturally to me as far as picking up the sounds and where the harmony needs to go."
"I've been primarily influenced by the group of musicians that have frequented my hometown of Savannah, Georgia. Growing up, it was nearly impossible to go out to eat without a solo performer, acoustic duo, or 3-piece blues band playing. As I got older I quickly became aware that this was something I wanted to do. It wasn't until after my time on Micronesia that I gave serious consideration to pursuing music on a much larger scale."- William Massey
"The Rolling Stones and Graham Parsons have to be my first major influences when it came to just understanding music...or trying to. To date, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, The Avett Brothers, Hiss Golden Messenger, Wilco, and Widespread Panic are who I listen to the most. This eclectic group of performers provides me with songs that I love to just listen to and never even desire to play, the structure of their songs helps my writing, and the sounds they create give me ideas that help me diversify the sound that I am able to relay on any given night. Isbell and Simpson are especially influential due to their "no bullshit" attitudes regarding how they write, and how they feel about mainstream music; particularly mainstream country. They do things their own way and they perform at small theaters FOR THE PEOPLE. They write their own music and their lyrics (particularly Isbell's) reflect who they are as people. They don't have a room full of writers cranking about 3 minute songs for the radio station."- WIlliam L. Massey
"I believe in and feel good about things that happen organically; my music and writing have been that kind of process for me. I wasn't trying to pursue music per say but music has continually pursued me. I've decided to really put myself out there with my music, playing more shows, writing more songs, posting more all over the web, investing in my music financially, etc. The process has encouraged me that this is where I'm meant to be, and it's time to share my work and do as much as I can musically as an artist. If you enjoy the music I'm sharing here, please consider supporting me to extend my work and help me record my music in high quality audio format. I'm so grateful for contributions of any amount, and if they cannot be financial I'm grateful for any way you'd like to help me get my music out there, please visit and share my page, my YouTube page , Facebook live videos, and leave me some feedback, or share my music with a friend. I'm looking forward to sharing my music with you!"
