James W. Jenson Photo Equipment.jpg

The Buddie Photo Session Case is a uniquely designed photography equipment case that provides an on-location photographer the convenience of assembling the needed camera equipment and accessories in one case, and is designed to make on-location photography easier. The photography case recently completed the initial ideation design phase and will be going into the industrial design phase during winter 2020 with a possible prototype of the photography case completed by late spring 2020.

"For years, I have wondered how I could give back to the photography industry. The photography case concept is a result of some frustration I have experienced while taking camera gear to and from photo sessions. This case concept came from the Most High. The case is designed to make transporting camera gear easier for photographers. I am looking forward to finishing up the industrial design phase and getting the case on the market for the photography community to enjoy." -James Jenson

BIO and One World Blue media interview with: James W. Jenson, Jr., Industrial Photographer:

During his early years growing as a Denver, CO native, James was always intrigued with the environment around him. As a senior in high school, he picked up his very first camera, (a Kodac 110) and soon discovered the excitement in taking photographs.

James' subject matter consisted of airplanes, clouds, flowers and sunsets. In the late 1980s, he had the good fortune of meeting a professional photographer who took the time to mentor him and strongly encouraged James to consider the possibility of a career in photography.

By late 1990, Jenson became hooked on architectural images, fascinated with the structural elements that populate the urban landscape.

In late 1992, he took the leap of faith and founded James W. Jenson photography (JWJP) a Denver based commercial photography firm that specializes in architecture, engineering, industrial and transportation photography.

CURVES OF DARK & LIGHT.jpg

~~One World Blue Media question~~: Mr Jenson, In today's world, when it appears that more and more people truly want to start their own business and go into work that they sincerely love, what are some words of encouragement and advice you could offer to those looking to take the "leap of faith" that you did?

James Jenson: "I would have to say it takes faith, prayer, visualizing your success, hard work and surrounding yourself with positive, successful people who can mentor you and keep you encouraged when you hit bumps in the road. It's also very important to have a product or service that is marketable. If possible, try to have at least 6 months of savings put aside to live on and switch to part-time work until you can get your vision off the ground. I wished I haddone this when I was starting out. "

Since then Jenson has been blessed with an extensive portfolio of professional work which includes photography of many large scale, high profile projects.

"First and foremost my creative eye comes from the Most High! The mentoring and coaching I received from other photographers has helped shape the way I do image capture. I aim to capture images that are unique and give the viewer a different visual perspective of the subject matter being photographed. I strive to capture the best image/images I can for a client's project or for my own creative use."

Capturing images in the above mentioned industries is James' passion. During the image capture process, he focuses on working with fill light and natural light along with the elements of color, design, shadows, shapes, lines, angles, patterns and textures.

The end goal is to pleasantly surprise and delight clients with a collection of exceptional photographic images that best showcase their projects.

~One World Blue Media question~: What do you feel the moral responsibilities of the artist are? How can artists contribute to a more peaceful world?

" James Jenson: I cannot speak for other artists, but as for me, I strive to offer quality products and services in an ethical, professional, and honest manner. I believe a person should use their talents to inspire, encourage, motivate, and uplift others. Creative gifts can bring excitement and encouragement to all that come in contact with them and hopefully make the world a better place."

"What inspires me is the endless possibilities for creative image capture. Photographers are artists. We use a different set of tools. Painters use canvas and brushes, and photographers use their cameras."

Some of Jenson's work has been published in GATEWAY TO THE WEST - a glossy coffee table book about the design and construction of Denver International Airport, Construction Today Magazine, the online magazine Fabric Architecture and Engineering News Record Magazine (which are all national trade publications), RTD Publications, Denver Corporate Connection Magazine and The Denver Post.

~One World Blue Media question~ : james, please speak a bit more on the racial discrimination you've experienced in your field? How can this be overcome on a wide scale, how do you overcome it personally?

"Yes I have experienced racial discrimination in my line of work. Historically, industrial photography is not usually done by people of color. Photographers of color are more popular as fashion, lifestyle, wedding, portrait, product, sports, food, nature, entertainment, news and media photographers, not industrial photographers. This has been my experience and as a result, I strive to provide the best service and images I can. Industrial photography is a different type of visual creativity. During a meeting or portfolio showing, I can usually tell in a few minutes if I'm being judged as a person of color and not as a professional photographer by the questions asked and the general tone of the meeting. Once I pick up on this type of attitude/behavior, my best approach is to politely step away from that firm/individual and move on to the next opportunity. I believe it's important to work with people who celebrate, respect, value and appreciate your creative talents. I have also begun mentoring other photographers of color and getting them more interested in architectural and industrial photography. This will go a long in helping to eliminate some of the stereotypes and help people understand that it's ok to work with talented people of color in the creative space."
